Insane Pat Robertson: Snow Is God’s Way of Punishing Americans Who Were Planning to Drive to Do Something Gay

Treacherous Roads Part of Almighty’s Strategy, Says Televangelist

In VIRGINIA BEACH:

Rev. Pat Robertson sparked controversy in today’s broadcast of his 700 Club program when he claimed that God created the blizzard currently battering the Northeast “to punish Americans who were planning to drive to do something gay.”

Explaining his theory, Rev. Robertson said, “Because of the bad road conditions the Almighty has made, any gay activities that people were planning on doing will have to be postponed by a day or two.”

Additionally, he argued, God shut down major airports in the New York area “so that people who were hoping to fly to do something of a gay nature would have to take a train or a bus, so it might be days before the gay thing they were going to do could occur.”

As for the millions of straight people in New York City who were also grounded by the bad weather, the televangelist said, “I think God probably wonders, if these people are really straight, then what are they doing in New York?”

Are you sure he made those comments are you just joking around? They sound crazy — even for PR.

Hhmmmm…. Lots of snow here in Canada, AND we gave same-sex marriage too. I guess that makes Canada FAAAAABBBBUULLOOOUUSSSS!

Oh, BTW, where were the snow storms on 9/11? That would have come in real handy to prevent the terrorists from driving to the airport.

If this isn’t made up then please provide a source.

if it is made up please indicate that in someway. It’s not cool to put things like this up and not have any explanation. I almost used that quote for an online debate until I saw it had no attribution whatsoever. I hope no one else uses it until it’s reported as accurate, with the usual links to the source.

It’s hard enuf to fight religion misinformation.

RGC should make it clear that this is satire. I don’t like PR any more than you, but don’t be deceptive.

No deception here Matt. The category for this article is “Crazy Satire.” Sorry if you missed that.

What!? Mr. Robertson, you’re straight!? You prick! Did that night mean nothing to you?

Apparently Mr. Robertson must be really insecure with Antarctica because there’s a lot of snow and ice there. If Robertson’s theory were true, then San Francisco would be the coldest.

What would Sigmund Freud say about Pat Robertson!?

Sigmund Freud? How about every shrink after him? The man is a giant ball of crazy.

It’d be great if it was true, but it seems unlikely. Pat Robertson doesn’t seem to make any appearance in the 700 Club episode of 30th December. See for yourself here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpUw-BrCRmM

Neil, The 700 Club is not the same as The 700 Club Interactive. The 700 Club is a 1-hour show on TBN and other channels. The 700 Club Interactive is a show with online extras and only half an hour. I don’t know why any of us would want to watch The 700 Club and believe it, but you can watch at http://www.cbn.com/700club/showinfo/schedule/previousbroadcasts.aspx . I watched the December 28th episode, which The Borowitz Report said was the episode. That was before I had read other Borowitz articles.

However, you may be right that Pat Robertson never said it. The web site is The Borowitz Report, which seems to be a lot like theonion.com. I’m glad that religiongonecrazy.com does have a sense of humor though.

I was born in 1980. The first time that I saw Pat Robertson on TV was about 1995 and I was mistaken that he was a bumbling substitute 700 Club host.

Robertson says some things that you’d expect from a man with pre-Alzheimer’s or who has gone crazy. Robertson and the late Jerry Falwell must have strong latent closet gay tendencies.

Supposedly, Pat Robertson hates Jews or thinks that Jews are going to Hell. Then somebody asked him, “How can you hate Jews, when Jesus is/was a Jew?” Then Robertson responded by saying something similar to, “Jesus was not a Jew, but a Jeweler. He made nice, sparkling things.” I had heard about this from the radio once.

It’s definitely satire, although it seems that the internet is exploding with it and reporting it as fact. While I think Mr. Robertson is as possibly-demented as the next guy and cringe when he offers his thoughts regarding natural disasters, I also get really sad about our society’s growing inability to recognize satire.

This is a piece by Andy Borowitz – he’s a comedian and posts in fake-news format, like The Onion.

    It’s bogus.

I’m looking for a man by the name of George Tillman. He was a friend of my parents, way back when. He lived in Richmond, VA at one point. The name Grossman would mean something to him, as would the name Sutton. Might you be the George Tillman for whom I’m looking?

This came from Borowitz – he is a parody writer like “The Onion.”

That was an Andy Borowitz piece of satire. However, here’s a recent video of the actual Pat Robertson comparing New York to the city of Sodom: http://www.mediaite.com/tv/pat-robertson-cites-angel-rape-during-discussion-of-ny-gay-marriage-law/

There was another time a few years ago that I was flipping through the channels and The 700 Club was on with Pat Robertson. He was talking about other countries and he said, “…countries like Mosaic and Agrium…” Could he mean Mozambique instead of Mosaic? I don’t know what he means by Agrium. I wonder if Pat Robertson has pre-Alzheimer’s. He’s really crazy, delusional, and gullible.
